PROTECTING YOUR WORK

Protecting your work may seem like a full time job, especially if you write a piece of work that is incredibly good. I’ve seen GDI presell pages and Acme People Search presell pages that I’ve written posted on other sites where people have claimed ownership of them with no shame in their game.

It sucks, but it’s all part of being an affiliate.

I once had a Global Domains International (GDI) affiliate copy my entire presell page. Not only did she copy my entire page verbatim, but she actually left my affiliate links intact. As of this writing, the thief’s website is still going strong and I’m averaging about three sign-ups monthly thanks to her. Keep up the good work, lady!

Original content is one of the most precious commodities on the Internet. With this being the case, thieves are constantly on the look-out for well writen, original content. Could you imagine the cost if you tried to copyright every article you wrote?

A great step to take when it comes to protecting your content is to simply place a “plagiarism warning banner” as seen here. There are several sites on line that provide copyright services, but you can find banners just like the one below for free on COPYSCAPE.COM.

Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape

Now don’t get it twisted, this banner will not stop people from stealing your content, but it does give them fair warning. If you create a great page odds are very high that thieves will find it and use it as their own. Lorelle On Word Press has an excellent article on, website hijacking. I personally use the steps outlined on Lorelle’s site to fight my own stolen content battles.

Your work is worth protecting, just make sure you go about it the right way.

Michael
